Hi there, my name is Deana, and this is my first ever blog post!  My intention here is to explain how I came to love our great state of Colorado and why the Realize Colorado team is the right choice for any event you are planning.

Let me explain how I got here… I have moved to Colorado three times and can’t imagine living anywhere else. I am completely addicted to the mountains, summer and winter!

My first move here was many years ago when I came to CSU in Fort Collins as a freshman. It was a pretty hilarious scene as this Cajun girl, from Louisiana, saw real snow for the first time!  The next spring my parents picked me up in an RV with my younger brother and we went to 33 states and four Canadian provinces that summer.  That trip was my first visit to Telluride, but I will come back to that… After that trip I went back home to LSU and finished college (Geaux Tigers).  During those years I spent two summers working in Alaska at the Princess Lodge in Denali National Park and decided I belonged at altitude instead of sea level!

My second move was to Snowmass Village in 1999 to work at the Silvertree Hotel, now the Westin. This marked the beginning of my Conference Services career.  I was in love with the mountains and learned to ski that year which was amazing!  A few years later I moved away for a job opportunity and vowed to be back as soon as possible. While in Georgia for those few years, I met the love of my life and got married in 2004.  When we met, I told him I could only date him if he was open to moving west, and he agreed.

The third move was in 2005 with my husband Michael. We both went to work at the Vail Cascade (now Hotel Talisa), bought a house in Leadville and thought we would never leave.  We loved everything about Leadville. Our daily commute was 42 miles through 2 national forests (who could complain about that)!

In 2010, we moved to Telluride for my husband’s job and I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. I told you I would come back to Telluride, and that is where it all started…Realize Colorado was born in 2011.

So as you can see I have moved all over the state and value the experiences and people in each place.  Now I split time between Winter Park & Denver, and make my rounds to the mountains on a regular basis.  I can’t get enough of this beautiful state, and could talk about Colorado all day!

In this blog moving forward, I am very excited to share with you our favorite places & favorite things all over the wonderful & colorful state of Colorado. I would love to connect and see how Realize Colorado can help you plan the perfect group experience in the Rocky Mountains!
