This month, we are introducing our new blog series: Colorado Q&A with the Realize Team.
Here, we will feature each team member’s take on a fun question about Colorado. We hope you enjoy getting to know us (and our colorful state) a little bit better!
Summertime means festival season! So, we’ve asked the team:
What is your favorite festival in Colorado?
Mountainfilm. First of all, I just love movies… but Mountainfilm is special because it is mostly about the adventure we all love. It is in Telluride over Memorial Day Weekend and, although it is popular and well attended, it is casual and laid back. There are several movies I saw for the first time there that stand out in my mind, but the Q&A with Reese Witherspoon after Wild was one of the most memorable!
Does Country Jam count?! About 30 miles from the Utah border, just West of Grand Junction, thousands of country fans come from all over the U.S. to enjoy four days of camping, music and memory making! During the day, the campground is a bonding experience where neighbors become friends. At night, after the concerts, the campgrounds become a dance party where you all get your boots dusty!
Telluride Comedy Festival is definitely toward the top of the list! Each President’s Day Weekend, some of the biggest names in stand-up comedy descend upon our small ski town and perform at the historic Sheridan Opera House. Before the show, you may even see a comedian or two out on the slopes! Needless to say, there is never a dull moment during this festival.
Telluride Blues & Brews… no competition. It is easily the most welcoming and relaxing festival I’ve ever been to. Between the famous “blanket run” every morning of the event to get a good spot, to basking in Telluride’s sun soaked valley all afternoon, to the Grand Beer Tasting on Saturday, this festival has it all.
Telluride Jazz Festival is a favorite of mine. It takes place on the first weekend of August annually and holds steady three days of festivities with tasty food, beverages and concerts throughout town. This festival brings well-known and acclaimed jazz artists to the Southwestern part of the State of Colorado. From sun-up to sundown, the scenic view supports the chill-lax and groove-on notes that both locals and visitors can appreciate.
I love Oktoberfest at Beaver Creek! The whole town of Beaver Creek transforms every Labor Day Weekend with Bavarian food and music performed by the incredibly talented Helmut Fricker!
